Disability Studies

Introduction

This research guide presents recommended resources regarding mental and physical disabilities through multiple disciplines, including law, psychology, education, sociology, and others.

Statement on Language

Disability can be talked about with identity/disability-first or person-first language. The person and context often determine which model is used. This guide uses a mix of both. Also note that some older resources may content outdated or offensive language. For example, many in the Deaf community do not consider deafness a disability, but often academic works and federal/local laws do.
