Available Equipment

In an effort to replace the E-labs that LRD no longer has available to faculty and staff we have created our Mobile Computer Labs. This is a mobile cabinet that holds 20 laptop computers. If you have a need for your students to work on computers during class, you can request our Mobile computer lab through 25Live. If you have more than 20 students make sure you request the number of labs that will cover the number of students attending. If the request is approved, a media technician will deliver and set up the laptops in the classroom and return to take them down at the end of class. If your class ends early please call us at 202-274-6035 so we can pick them up promptly to avoid the possibility of any of them becoming missing.

NOTE!

The use of mobile computer labs will not be approved for hazardous locations such as, but not limited to, lecture auditoriums. Due to the small size of the fold-over armrest desks, the close proximity to each other, and the narrow aisles, there is too great a risk of damage from the laptops being knocked off the desktops.

If you have an event in a space that requires voice amplification for the attendees to hear what is going on, LRD has public address systems. The system includes one or two speakers (depending on size of the venue) and a number of microphones both wireless and wired (microphone desktop and floor stands are available). You can request this through 25Live. If approved, a media technician will deliver and set it up prior to the start of your event and take it down at the end of your event.

Space Recommendations

Windows Lounge (Building 38, Rooms 203 and 207)

This room has Windows on three walls. Because of this a projector and Screen is not recommended. We recommend that you use the 80” flat panel display mounted on the southeast wall. Connect this display with an HDMI cable to your video source. A public address system may be desired to speak to your group. One speaker is sufficient for a group that fills only half of the room and two speakers if the entire room is filled. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call us at 202-274-6035.

Lecture Hall (Building 44, Room A03)

The only equipment built into this room that works is the podium microphone and the projection screen. If you need to project an image in this room we recommend you reserve a projector. If you need a laptop to project from, we recommend you reserve our media cart. If you have a disc or tape and that is all you wish to project we recommend you reserve our video cart. If you wish to speak to the audience from a location other than the podium you may want to reserve a public address system (only one speaker will be necessary).
