IGED Writing Courses

What is an Embedded Librarian?

Research and writing are highly interconnected, and thus, in your IGED writing classes, you will engage in college-level research.

Research can be difficult. It's often messy, and learning how to do research is a process. For those reasons, the IGED writing classes at UDC have "embedded librarians" to give you extra support, targeted for these specific classes, with your research assignments and use of library resources.

Your class embedded librarian will:

  • Visit your class to meet you at the beginning of the semester (or post an introduction video for asynchronous online classes).
  • Share timely research and writing resources in your class Blackboard to help with course assignments.
  • Provide personalized support about where and how to find information, picking good sources, citing, and managing your research.
  • Teach class workshops on specific research concepts or skills, per your professor's preference.
  • NOT give you a grade, so ask them (almost) anything!

Your embedded librarian is there to help. Reach out to them by email or make an appointment to meet with them, either in-person or online.
