    What the Library Offers

by Meghan Kowalski on 2024-08-21T08:00:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

Welcome to the fall semester, Firebirds! We are so excited to see you all again AND to get invite you into our newly remodeled space. While we are still putting the finishing touches on things (pardon our dust!), we are open and ready to serve you.

The library is now located on the B Level of Buildings 38 and 39. (See our hours for this semester.) Our remodeled location has been designed with you in mind:

    • Reference Desk - Ask us anything! Our reference librarians are here to help you with any information request you have. We can help get you started on assignments, track down resources, discuss topics, figure out citations, or navigate the University. In-person help is available Monday-Friday from 9AM to 6PM .
    • Individual and Group Study Rooms - Currently, you can request access to these rooms by visiting the Circulation or Media Services desks. Rooms may be reserved for up to 2 hours at a time. Soon, we will offer online reservation.
    • Family-Friendly Study Space - This room offers two adult work stations along with things to keep the kiddos occupied. Right now, we have a bookcase with plenty to read, coloring supplies, and a few toys. We are adding a kids' table with chairs and two bean bag seats. All are welcome to use this space but children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This room is first-come, first-served. (The restrooms next to this study room have been equipped with step stools to make handwashing easier.)
    • Computers - We have plenty of PCs and Macs spread throughout the library.
    • Wi-Fi - You can log in on your own laptop with your UDC email or create a guest account.
    • Accessibility Station - Our accessible workstation is located near the Reference Desk. It has a computer equipped with JAWS, Magic, and OpenBook software; a low-vision, large print keyboard; a digital scanner; and a document viewer. We also have hearing aid compatible headphones which can be used at any computer.
    • Printing, Photocopying, and Scanning - We have two Xerox machines that allow FREE printing, photocopying, and scanning.
    • Study Space - Our new space offers lounge chairs, group seating, and tables throughout the library. Make yourself at home!

Remember - You can always make an appointment with a librarian (in-person or online), email us at ask@udc.libanswers.com, or send us a chat (we're not bots!). We're happy to help!

If you want to learn more about the library and what we offer, sign up for our webinar on August 30 at 1PM. We're covering everything you need to know. Register now to attend live or get a link to the recording.

    Have a great semester, Firebirds!
