While the Library is in our temporary location in Building 71, we will not have books on site. Books ARE available to be requested.
Since books are held in another area of campus, you will need to submit your request in advance. This can be done in-person at the Circulation Desk (3rd Floor, Building 71) or online. We provide instructions for each process below.
Books are pulled once a day. Please leave one business day to submit your requests. Requests submitted before 11am may be available same day.
To request a book online, complete the following steps.
1. Find the book in UDC Search.
2. In the results list, click the title of the book you want. This will open the item's page.
3. On the item page, click the "Sign In" link in the yellow box. (If you are already signed in you can skip this step and jump to step #.)
4. If prompted, select your log in user type. UDC students and faculty are EXTERNAL users.
5. Sign in using your UDC email credentials.
6. You are now back on the item's page. Find the "Get It" menu and select "Request UDC Copy."
7. Complete the request form and click "Send Request."
8. The request will be submitted and a green success box will appear on the items page.
9. You will receive an email once the book is available for pick-up. (Check your spam!) You will also be notified if the book is unavailable. In that case, the Library will automatically create a CLS or ILL request for the book to get it from another library. If one is available, you will be notified by email.
10. When the book is ready, you may pick it up at the Circulation Desk on the 3rd Floor of Building 71 (4250 Connecticut Ave). BRING YOUR UDC ONECARD!
