Labor relations is the study and practice of employee management in the unionized environment. Labor relations typically cover topics such as labor history, labor law, union organizing, bargaining, contract administration. In the United States, labor relations in the private sector is governed by the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). Federal public sector labor relations is governed by the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978. State statutory labor law extensively governs state public workplaces.
