We understand that research and academic writing are not easy. (No one likes creating citations. No one.) So, we're trying to make things a little bit better by sharing important information, tips, and tricks through our help guides. These guides cover topics related to the research process and library skills. Each guide is designed to give you our best information about each of these skills.

  • Library Orientation: Start here! This is your crash course in everything the library has to offer. This guide also gives you an introduction to academic research.
  • Finding ArticlesThis guide provides instructions and resources on finding articles using library databases.
  • Finding BooksSometimes an article won't cut it and you need to find a book. This guide walks you through how to find a book at UDC, through WRLC, or at another library.
  • Evaluating SourcesYou've found a source - but how do you know if it's the right source for your needs? This guide will discuss approaches to evaluating sources for your research.
  • Citing SourcesThis guide will explain how to correctly use citations to avoid plagiarism and provides resources to help you learn how to cite information correctly.
  • Internet Sources for ResearchThere's a lot of stuff online and not all of it works for academic projects. This guide walks you through our recommendations for using internet resources including how to evaluate online information and use Google effectively.

Once you've checked the help guides out, you might be interested in the rest of our guides. We have guides for almost every UDC program and subject area. You can see the full list here
